Wesak Poya Festival
With the Wesak Poya Festival (or Vesakh or Vesak) the highest Buddhist festival is celebrated in Buddhism. The Wesak festival honors the birth, enlightenment and death, and thus the subsequent entry into nothingness (Nirvana) of the enlightened Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama.
 The festival is on the full moon of the fourth month of the lunisolar calendar, which usually corresponds to May or July of the solar calendar. |  |  Traditionally the enlightened Buddha is honored by puja ceremonies on Wesak Poya. |
